GWRA Participates In Job Fairs, Networking

The Greater Wilmington Radio Association (GWRA) joined area employers at three job fairs and a Networking Night during 2015.

On November 16 and April 10 hundreds of job-seekers attended a job fair sponsored by Delaware's Congressional delegation – U.S.  Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons and U.S. Representative John Carney.  Nearly 50 companies and organizations participated at both events.

Rep. Carney, center, stopped by the GWRA booth to speak with Executive Director Darryl D. McEwen, left, and Nick Cucurello, senior account executive at WJBR-FM.

The job fairs were held on the Stanton/George campus of Delaware Technical Community College in Newark.

At left, GWRA Vice President, Matt Smith, vice president/market manager for Beasley Media Group, Wilmington and Philadelphia, talks to a prospective employee.

On April 9 GWRA joined 35 other companies and organizations at a Networking Night, sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences in the Trabant Student Center at the University of Delaware.
Among some of the positive feedback GWRA received were:

"
It was a pleasure meeting you at UD's networking event. I just wanted to thank you for your time and encouraging words. Thank you for the insight into the radio field, as it's not merely pushing sales, but relationships and lively field work." - Natalie P., College of Arts and Sciences, Class of 2015

"I wanted to thank you for your feedback and direction at UD's Networking Night. My passion for Communications and Media, along with radio experience fit well into what the Greater Wilmington Radio Association has to offer in both their environment and future opportunities. Thank you again for sharing your experience and expertise in this field with me." - Amanda P., Class of 2017

On February 26 GWRA joined more than 200 employers at the University of Delaware's Spring Career Fair in the Bob Carpenter Center, Newark.
